About Us

Meet Lisa and Jarrett Ruderman

We are Jarrett and Lisa from Jupiter, FL and we have 2 children, Logan (age 8) and Austin (age 6). Jarrett has been a stay-at-home dad since 2010 and has helped guide our boys through all stages of early childhood. Lisa has a degree in early childhood education, but life took her down a different path and she has spent the last 20 years developing a career in health insurance. We are originally from Long Island, NY and relocated to FL in 2015 to escape the dreary winters and to create a better life for our children.

When we settled in Jupiter, we began searching for indoor and outdoor places where we could take the boys to play, have fun, and burn some energy. We were instantly drawn to We Rock the Spectrum when we read their motto, “Finally A Place Where You Never Have to Say I’m Sorry.” This statement resonated deeply with us. At age 3, Logan was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and we later learned that specifically he was an impulse seeker. His body was craving impulses that could only be satisfied by what appeared to others as “misbehavior.” Logan would crash into things such as walls, furniture, people, and other children to satisfy this impulse. Nothing about his behavior was malicious, but to those who didn’t understand SPD, Logan was just a hyper, misbehaved child. Everywhere we went, we found ourselves apologizing to those around us. In addition to his impulsivity, Logan struggles with other sensory processing such as loud noises, textures, heights, etc. Logan recieved occupational therapy, mostly at a sensory gym, where we learned techniques to help him.

When we first entered We Rock the Spectrum, a weight was lifted off of our shoulders. We found ourselves surrounded by loving, caring people, who accepted each child as they were and encouraged them to be themselves. It was only natural that when an opportunity presented itself for us to own a We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym, we jumped on it. We are so thankful for the “acceptance” of our children and want to share the same feeling with other families. We are excited to be able to offer a safe place in our community where families can allow their children to play and grow, and never have to apologize for their children being themselves!
